Royal Warrants
In peerage matters Royal Warrants are documents issued by the Crown to allow certain things to happen outside the normal rules or conventions. As will be seen from the examples below they are often used to allow people styles and precedence which they would only have been entitled to had other events, such as the death of a close relative, not happened.
14 Mar 1896 - warrant to brother and sister of 3rd Baron Denman
8 Feb 1910 - warrant regarding the Roll of the Baronetage
5 Jun 2000 - warrant to sisters of 3rd Viscount Kemsley
5 Jun 2000 - warrant to sisters of 10th Earl of Jersey
27 Mar 2002 - warrant to sisters of 7th Duke of Sutherland
1 Nov 2002 - warrant to use name and arms of Herbert to 18th Baron Herbert
3 Feb 2003 - warrant to sisters of 6th Marquess of Abergavenny
16 Apr 2003 - warrant to brother of 7th Baron de Mauley
30 Apr 2004 - warrant regarding adopted children of peers
1 Jun 2004 - warrant regarding the Roll of the Peerage
25 Jun 2004 - warrant to terminate the abeyance of the Barony of Howard de Walden
3 Sep 2004 - warrant to brother of 5th Earl of Balfour
26 Jun 2006 - warrant to sisters of 8th Earl of Romney
4 Jul 2006 - warrant regarding the precedence of the Lord Speaker
5 Nov 2007 - warrant regarding the precedence of the Lord Chief Justice of England and the Master of the Rolls
17 Dec 2007 - warrant to brother and sister of 5th Baron Borwick
9 May 2008 - warrant to sister of 7th Baron Poltimore
31 Dec 2012 - letters patent regarding the children of the Duke of Cambridge
