The Barony of Astley was held by the Barons Ferrers of Groby from 3 Sep/12 Nov 1448 until 23 Feb 1553/4, when Henry [Grey], 1st Duke of Suffolk, 3rd Marquess of Dorset, 9th Baron Ferrers of Groby, and de jure 9th Baron Astley, was executed on Tower Hill, having been found guilty of treason, attainted, and all his titles forfeited.
