A cut-out plate in perfect order representing the arms, which are: Quarterly: 1st and 4th, Sable a

Cross engrailed Or (for Ufford); 2nd and 3rd, Gules a Mill-Iron Argent (for Willoughby), with silvered

helm and silver mantle with red lining branched with gold, and the crest: a Soldan's Head proper crined

Sable crowned Or. The crown is filled in with white enamel. The mantling is unusual in that it reverses

the widely accepted heraldic "rule" that mantling should be a colour lined with a metal or a fur.

The Barony of Willoughby de Eresby was held by the Earls of Lindsey (Dukes of Ancaster and Kesteven from 26 Jul 1715) from 22 Nov 1626 until 8 Jul 1779, when on the death of Robert [Bertie], 4th Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven, 7th Earl of Lindsey and 20th Baron Willoughby de Eresby, the barony fell into abeyance between his two sisters:  (1) Lady Priscilla Barbara Elizabeth Bertie, wife of Sir Peter Burrell, 2nd Bt. later 1st Baron Gwydyr;  and (3) Lady Georgiana Charlotte Bertie, wife of George James [Cholmondeley], 4th Earl of Cholmondeley later 1st Marquess of Cholmondeley.  The Barony of Willoughby de Eresby was called out of abeyance on 18 Mar 1780 in favour of:
