20 May 1442 Earl of Shrewsbury
17 Jul 1446 Earl of Waterford and Hereditary Steward of Ireland
The Barony of Talbot (as well as the Baronies of Furnivall and of Strange of Blackmere) were held by the Earls of Shrewsbury from 20 May 1442 until 8 May 1616, when on the death of Gilbert [Talbot], 7th Earl of Shrewsbury, 13th Baron Talbot, etc., the Earldom passed to his brother and heir male but the three baronies fell into abeyance between his three daughters and coheirs: Mary, Countess of Pembroke (dsp. 1630), Elizabeth, Countess of Kent (dsp. 1651), and Alethea, Countess of Arundel. The Countess of Arundel inherited all three baronies in 1651 as sole heir of her father. After the death of the Countess in 1654 the three baronies passed to her grandson, Thomas [Howard], 23rd or 16th Earl of Arundel, later restored as 5th Duke of Norfolk. After his death in 1677 the three baronies remained with the Dukedom of Norfolk until 20 Sep 1777, when on the death of Edward [Howard], 9th Duke of Norfolk, 19th Baron Strange of Blackmere, etc., the Dukedom of Norfolk passed to his cousin and the Baronies of Talbot, Furnivall and Strange of Blackmere, together with the Baronies of Mowbray and Segrave, fell into abeyance between his nieces and coheirs as heirs general: Winifred, Lady Stourton, and Ann, Lady Petre. The abeyance of the Baronies of Mowbray and Segrave was terminated in 1878 in favour of Alfred Joseph [Stourton], 20th Baron Stourton, the great-great-grandson of Winifred, Lady Stourton. The abeyance of the Barony of Furnivall was similarly terminated in 1913 in favour of Mary Frances Catherine Petre later Dent, great-great-granddaughter of Ann, Lady Petre, only to fall into abeyance again on her death in 1968.
