Tyrone and in 1619 was granted an Irish peerage

on 24 May 1774 the Irish House of Lords confirmed his claim to the Barony of Castle Stuart but his claim to the Scottish Lordship of Ochiltree was rejected by the Committee for Privileges on 16 Apr 1793

 

Since 29 Dec 1800 the Barony of Castle Stuart has been held by the Earls Castle Stewart.
