On his death the Barony of Vaux of Harrowden fell into abeyance between his surviving sister, Hon Joyce Vaux, a nun at Eye, and the heirs of his two deceased sisters: (1) Hon Mary Symeon, wife of Sir George Symeon, of Britwell, co. Oxford; and (2) Hon Catherine Nevill, second wife of Henry [Nevill], 2nd Baron Bergavenny. The Barony of Vaux of Harrowden was called out of abeyance after almost 176 years on 12 Mar 1838 in favour of:
