On the death of the 3rd Earl of Rockingham the Barony of Throwley, the Viscountcy of Sondes and the Earldom of Rockingham all became extinct, but the Barony of Rockingham passed to his cousin, Thomas [Watson-Wentworth], 1st Earl of Malton later 1st Marquess of Rockingham.
