On the death of the 7th Earl of Mountrath the Earldom of Mountrath and other Irish titles created in 1660 became extinct, the Barony of Castle Coote passed to his distant cousin but became extinct in 1827, and the Irish Baronetcy created in 1621 passed to another distant cousin . Under his will he left his English estates (Dereham Abbey, co. Norfolk, etc.) to his cousin, Henry [Newport], 3rd Earl of Bradford, and his Irish estates to the Coote family.
