On the death of the 2nd Earl of Annandale the Viscountcy of Stormont passed under the remainder of that peerage to his kinsman, David [Murray], 2nd Lord Balvenie, who eight months later married his widow. The other titles granted in 1622 and 1625 became extinct on the Earl's death.
