The Lordship of Polwarth was held by the Earls of Marchmont from 23 May 1697 to 10 Jan 1793, when on the death of Hugh [Hume-Campbell], 3rd Earl of Marchmont, 3rd Lord Polwarth, etc., the Earldom, Viscountcy and Lordship of 1697 became dormant and the right to the Lordship of 1690 passed to his granddaughter
