In the death of the 4th Earl of Orford the titles created in 1742 became extinct but the Barony of Walpole (of Walpole) created in 1723 passed to his cousin and heir male, Horatio [Walpole], 2nd Baron Walpole (of Wolterton) later 1st Earl of Orford (created 1806).
